What
Conventional cattle rearing is not good for the environment. Firstly cattle is responsible for some greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions like methane due to ineffective digestion because of all the supplement and grains being fed. Secondly do the paddocks deteriorate due to overgrazing and erosion. Thirdly are the cattle treated with antibiotics, vaccines and other chemicals on a daily bases which is not good for human health where milk and meat are consumed.
How
By adding SBM to the drinking water at 1lt SBM per 1000lt water, the need for most supplements and treatments fall away. Cattle (dairy or beef) are more healthier as the digestion is more effective. High density controlled grazing improve soil carbon content of pastures and prevent overgrazing. Basic licks like calcium phosphate can still be supplied especially on sour veld.
